Malindo Air Starts Operation by May 2013

Newly-established joint Malaysia-Indonesia budget airline, Malindo Air, is set to create some waves in the Malaysia airline industry!

Set to begin operations in May 2013, Malindo Air will compete head on with AirAsia in the budget airline segment dominated by AirAsia.

To be based at KLIA2, Malindo Air is a 51:49 joint venture (JV) between Malaysia's National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn. Bhd. (NADI), and Indonesia's PT Lion Mentari (Lion Air).

From 2015 onwards, Malindo will offer long-haul flights to other Asian countries as well as Australia through both its own flights and code sharing with other airlines, including Lion Air’s subsidiaries Batik Air and Wings Air.
